T&W partners with New York City schools and community-based organizations to offer dynamic creative writing programs led by professional writers. Our programs inspire the imagination and foster self-expression, communication and a life-long love of literature. Programs include workshops for youth and adults, and professional development for educators.
Poetry Out Loud
Poetry Out Loud (POL), an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, is a national program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization, performance, and competition. Get involved now with New York’s POL!
The Bechtel Prize is awarded for essays that explore creative writing and arts education, the theme of the imagination, and/or creative writing. The Bechtel Prize honors Louise Seaman Bechtel (1894-1985), managing editor at Macmillan Company.
