T&W partners with other organizations to offer writing workshops for young people and adults. Current and recent T&W progams include:

  • A memoir-writing residency with young adult cancer survivors in collaboration with the New York LifeLab.
  • Poetry writing with parents of students at PS 156 Waverly in Brooklyn.
  • Slam poetry writing and performance workshops for teenagers at VISIONS: Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

Writing workshops can be tailored for the needs and interests of any age group, including intergenerational programs, and in a variety of genres, including:

  • Memoir
  • Poetry
  • Fiction
  • Playwriting

Cost

  • A 2-hour T&W writing workshop costs $400.
  • For workshops longer than 2 hours, including full-day sessions, or for workshops to be conducted outside NYC, please call 212-691-6590 or e-mail workshops@twc.org for cost information.

If you are a writer who wants to teach for Teachers & Writers Collaborative, download and fill out an Application Form and mail it with a copy of your résumé to: Workshops, Teachers & Writers Collaborative, 520 Eighth Ave., Ste. 2020, New York, NY 10018. Writers working with T&W are experienced, dynamic teachers committed to inspiring the love of language and writing in their students. T&W writers have published their work in books and in national magazines such as the New Yorker, Essence, and the New York Review of Books, and they have won many awards. They offer students a glimpse into the life of a writer, and inspire the students to create their own literary art.
